Getting everything out, and where to put it

How to make the export, the one setting that catches people out, and how to upload the workouts elsewhere. If your question is not here, write and say what happened.

Making an export

  1. Open HET and allow it to read Health. Turn on every kind of data you want in the export.
  2. When iOS asks how much history to share, choose All Recorded Data. See below for why this matters.
  3. HET counts your workouts, days of data and kinds of data. Open What's included to see the list.
  4. Press Export and keep HET open until it finishes. Health cannot be read while the phone is locked.
  5. Press Share zip and save it to Files, AirDrop it to a computer, or send it wherever you keep things.

My export only goes back 30 days

When HET first asks to read Health, iOS asks how much history to share: Past 30 Days or All Recorded Data. If Past 30 Days was chosen, Health gives HET only the last 30 days, and that is all that can be exported.

To change it, go to Settings › Health › Data Access & Devices › HET, allow all recorded data, then export again.

A kind of data is missing

Health does not tell apps what was refused, so a missing kind usually means its access is off. Turn it on in the same place, Settings › Health › Data Access & Devices › HET.

Two kinds are different by design. Clinical health records are never requested. Vision prescriptions and medications are shared one record at a time through Apple's own picker: HET's Help screen has a button that opens it.

Uploading your workouts to another platform

Unzip the export first. Everything to upload is in the Workouts folder, one FIT file per workout. Each platform has its own upload page and its own limits, and they change from time to time, so take these as directions rather than exact steps.

Garmin Connect

On a computer, sign in to Garmin Connect on the web and look for Import Data. Choose the FIT files from the Workouts folder.

Strava

On the Strava website, use Upload and choose files. You can select several FIT files at once; for a long history, work through the folder in batches.

Intervals.icu

Intervals.icu accepts FIT file uploads on the web. Drop the files from the Workouts folder onto its upload area.

Anywhere else

Most training platforms that import from a watch accept FIT files. The README.txt at the top of the export repeats these directions.

Opening the health data

Everything outside Workouts is in Health Data, one folder per kind of data, as CSV files. Numbers, Excel and Google Sheets all open them. Each folder has a readme.txt explaining every column. Times are in UTC, and each column header names its unit.

I paid and the unlock has not appeared

Open the unlock screen and press Restore purchase. Purchases are tied to your Apple Account, so make sure you are signed in with the same one you bought with.

Refunds are handled by Apple, at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Still stuck

Write to support@enalmar.uk and say what you did, what you expected, and what happened instead. If HET showed a message or a number, it helps to include it. Please do not attach your export: it is your health data, and it is not needed.
